Fable Anniversary is essentially the Lost Chapters, but with a graphical upgrade… similar to Halo Anniversary. Except this was overhauled for the XB So to answer your question, Anniversary is the better version, as it is the upgraded version to the Lost Chapters. I would suggest Anniversary, but keep in mind that even though Fable 3 might be the worst, experience is subjective and you might have more fun playing Fable 3. Listening to what the doors have to say is key. They will always give clues on to how to open them, if not outright say what they want you to do.
Weapons in Fable 3 operate a bit differently from the other games in the series, in that they will get more powerful as you use them. They all have certain requirements that need to be met before they will upgrade, so it is worth taking a look at what they need before going ahead with any quests, as some might be more suited than others. For example, if a weapon only upgrades when used against Hollow men, then it's worth bringing it to Mourningwood, but feel free to leave it behind it in areas like Bowerstone.
The Sanctuary allows you to quickly switch out weapons, so be sure to do so if you want to change them into the best versions of themselves.
