I personally think most things you're saying aren't true. The fact that you didn't want to spend your money at the shop should not determine that it is bad. Go by car or train giving you as much time as you'd like. I went and got the full experience and I thought it was great. Please return and don't be lazy so as to get the full experience and then reconsider. If you still have things to complain about then you're just complaining for the sake of complaining.
Thanks for your comment - I'm definitely not alone in the way I feel have a read of the other comments or look on TripAdvisor and I think we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. I went yesterday with my daughter as we were in the area. They were mini video clips, hardly any information and no real interaction with the chocolate making other than watching a couple of staff members wack some chocolate out of a mould.
The ride was just a cocoa bean character ride that lasted a few minutes with nothing really to show - purely to entertain the toddlers. The most interesting part was watching an interactive video of Cadbury talk about how it began. Even then, where are the history books to purchase with photos and information on their social housing and progression though the years?!
We were considering a visit this weekend, despite showing my other half your review he is still desperate to go Melis x. I'd love you to Tweet your thoughts about this post nefamilyfun or leave a comment over on my Facebook page fb. Why we were disappointed with our trip to Cadbury World. Before I planned a trip to Cadbury World, I'd read lots of mixed reviews. Nobody sang their praises, most people said it was ok and a few people really hated it.
I wanted to experience Cadbury World for ourselves before making our own judgement and Jack especially was dying to visit a real chocolate factory. I booked a bus trip via National Holidays which in hindsight wasn't the best way to see Cadbury World we were only given three hours to explore which on a peak visiting day in the Easter holidays wasn't long enough.
We arrived at around 1pm and left at 4pm. Find out more about Cadbury World here. Alan 23 April at Fabfatmama 23 April at Hello Jennifer Helen 23 April at Unknown 23 April at Sophie 23 April at Happy Mum 23 April at New Girl in Toon 23 April at The African Adventure Play Park is only suitable from age 5 up and so my pair struggled to access the top section.
According to the website there is a Mini Explorers zone for under 5s but we must have missed this. As the 4D show had a 40 minute wait time we decided to go for a show before our tour. It was perfect for the girls. The interactive show included audience participation, jokes, bubbles and a photo opportunity at the end. A must do for little ones especially. I was disappointed by this exhibition.
The boards were colourful but the text was complicated and dull to explain. A few speech bubbles to pull out the key points would have been great. Right next to the entrance, we browsed the gift shop whilst waiting for our group to be called through.
There are some great bargains to be had and we picked our purchases for when we were heading home. As you enter, you are handed two chocolate bars each. We got a Dairy Milk and Crunchie each and stashed our 8 bars in the bag for later. Inside the self guided tour, we walked through the displays and tried to simplify the information so it was age appropriate. In groups, you can go into a hologram talk and a screening of the chocolate process. This was done really well and I loved that they had included effects such as shaking seats and smoke to make the experience more exciting and engaging.
We were handed more chocolate, this time a Curly Wurly and headed onto the next area. You can spread out some chocolate and try piping chocolate to write your name. The girls enjoyed this but it would have also been nice to see a demonstration. The entire tour was super educational and fun. One of the highlights was that they kept handing you free chocolates to munch on during the tour. By the end, you get to learn a LOT about both the company and chocolate in general. Needless to say, I loved it.
We finished our tour by strolling through the Cadbury Shop where you can buy anything from mini-Cadbury chocolates to giant ones. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes. Carry drinking water, as well! During our visit, it was an incredibly hot day and no amount of water quenched our thirst!
